A new series is officially in the works for The CW surrounding characters associated with Gotham’s caped crusader, Batman.
The project, currently titled “Gotham Knights”, will be produced and developed by Batwoman writers, Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux, and Chad Fiveash. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden also produce the upcoming series whereas Warner Bros. Television will be the studio to help bring this show to our screens. It's also been confirmed to not be a spinoff of Batwoman, nor is it associated with the upcoming Gotham Knights video game. Below is the synopsis for this upcoming addition to the ever-expanding world of DC TV.
In the show, in the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights.
The synopsis teases that not only is Bruce Wayne gone for good, but one of his adopted apprentices is out looking for justice for the death of the dark knight. Whether or not this is Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Damian Wayne, or another one of Batman’s students is not clear at the given moment. The idea of seeing the children of well-known Batman villains like the Joker, the Penguin, and Catwoman is also a fascinating idea. It'll be intriguing to see how their kin compares to their parents, and if they'll stay off the path of evil permanently.
