HBO Max is quickly building itself up as a new hub for a different variety of DC shows, with current shows such as Titans, Doom Patrol, and upcoming shows such as Green Lantern, and Peacemaker bringing a wider breadth of stories and genres to stories about superheroes and anti-heroes. Last year, we had learned that J.J. Abrams' production company Bad Robot would be producing a variety of series for HBO Max, including a Justice League Dark show. Now, we have learned that there is a Constantine reboot also being produced, with Guy Bolton set to write for the show.
While they have yet to cast any actor in the role, the show is looking to distance itself from NBC's Constantine, played by Matt Ryan, who eventually found his home in the Waverrider in Legends of Tomorrow. They are apparently seeking to cast a diverse lead to helm the show, with the idea that it will be a darker origin story of the titular character as a young man in London. The pilot script is already written, and a writer's room for the show is planned to open next month.
