Warner Brothers and ViacomCBS are shopping around the idea of selling The CW. What this means for all the DCTV properties is uncertain.

Neil Gaiman: The Sandman Show All About Reinventing Itself

The Sandman is a timeless piece of literature that has captured the heart of fans over the past couple of decades, transcending the medium of comics to audiobooks and now a television series on Netflix. Neil Gaiman, author of the beloved comics, acts as a developer for the show to guide the storyline faithfully to the original piece.

In an interview with Empire, Gaiman spoke about bringing the story of the screen:

You watch Episode 1 and think, ‘Oh, I get this thing: it’s like Downton Abbey, but with magic,’” he says. “Then you’ll be wondering, ‘What the hell is this?’ by Episode 2, when you’re meeting Gregory The Gargoyle in The Dreaming. Episode 5 is about as dark and traumatic as anything is ever gonna get, then you’ve got Episode 6, which is probably the most feel-good of all the episodes.

Season one, which contains eleven hour-long episodes, will contain stories from “Preludes and Nocturnes “The Doll’s House” and the first half of “Dream Country.” Gaiman explains, “…With Sandman, it’s all about surprising you. It’s all about reinventing itself. It’s all about taking you on a journey you’ve not been on before.”
