The CW has officially made a decision on the impending renewals of two of their hit superhero shows; Superman and Lois and Gotham Knights.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the CW has decided to renew Superman and Lois for a fourth season. However, unlike prior seasons which ran for thirteen to fifteen episodes, the next season, which will come out in 2024, will only run on-air for ten episodes. Also, along with the shorter run, the series will have a more condensed budget and less regular cast members.
Wolé Parks, Tayler Buck, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette, Erik Valdez, Dylan Walsh and Sofia Hasmik will ultimately depart the show as series regulars, but may stay around in recurring roles next season. Michael Cudlitz has also been promoted to a series regular as Lex Luthor, while Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Alexander Garfin and Michael Bishop will stay on as their characters for the fourth season.
Meanwhile, in regards to Gotham Knights, the CW has officially canceled its latest teen drama set within the wider DC multiverse after one season. Despite valiant efforts from the production team to find the show a new home, it seems like the series will not be returning to our television screens next year. The final two episodes, titled “City of Owls” and “Night of the Owls”, will air on June 20 and June 27. Gotham Knights starred Oscar Morgan, Fallon Smythe, Tyler DiChiara, Anna Lore, Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson, Rahart Adams and Misha Collins.
