Much like the nature of The Sandman it's self, there is a lot of mystery around Netflix's new show. Some casting announcements have been made and series creator Neil Gaiman has gone on record to state that this show will try and remain true to the tone of The Sandman story but take place in a different decade. Beyond that, we've only been able to speculate as to what The Sandman will be like. Today, at Netflix's Tudum event, we got the scoop on more from Netflix's 'The Sandman':
- Neil Gaiman: Showrunner Gaiman joined us and spoke about how this has been a journey generations in the making. While the series took place originally in the 1980's, the show will be in a new time frame. That said, the set designers have used the comic books as a source of truth.
- Tom Sturridge: Tom welcomed us and proclaimed himself a supreme fan of The Sandman. He was excited to introduce us to an exclusive sneak peek.
- Kirby Howell-Baptiste: Kirby joined us and was excited to share she is playing Dream's sister, Death! We also learned that the official handles of The Sandman Social media were released. Instagram: @TheSandmanofficial, Twitter: @Netflix_Sandman!
We also have some banners/posters showing us our first look at some of the characters:
