According to Deadline.com, Todd Helbing, the executive producer on The CW's new show "Superman and Lois" (and previous executive producer on The CW's The Flash) has found another one of his series regular roles. This is the part of Sam Lane, Lois' father and General in the United States military! The role is actually a re-cast of sorts as Sam Lane has been portrayed on Superman and Lois' sister show, Supergirl by Glenn Morshower. But with the wackiness of getting a new child you didn't think you had via Crisis on Infinite Earths, this recast is easy to accept. The character is described as:

Samuel Lane is a no-nonsense Army General who’s determined to keep America, and the world, safe from all threats – from this world or beyond. Lane’s a workaholic who demands nothing but excellence from all those in his life.
