Ever since Javicia Leslie took over Ruby Rose’s role as Batwoman, fans have been left wondering if Batwoman’s costume would see some changes. Leslie confirmed during the Batwoman panel at DC Fandome that these changes would be coming, as her character will grow into her own and bring her own creativity to the suit. Today, we get to see the first look at the new Batwoman costume and Ryan Wilder’s interpretation of the iconic figure.
Notable changes to the suit include a new cowl featuring curly hair with red streaks, red gauntlets over the forearms, and shorter boots. While we adored Kate Kane’s fiery red wig, we really love Wilder’s more natural interpretation, while still keeping the Batwoman flair. The redesigned Batsuit was conceptualized by Batwoman costume designer Maya Mani and created by Ocean Drive Leather. The wig was created by Janice Workman and makeup styled by Cory Roberts.
Fans can expect this new look to make its debut during episode three of the second season. The first two episodes will keep Wilder in Kane’s original costume, and the change in the third episode serves to inform Gotham that a new hero has arrived.
We love how powerful the new Batwoman suit looks on Javicia Leslie, and we cannot wait to see her interpretation of the role during Season 2.
